Walnut Streusel Topped Apple Pie

Ready to use pie crust filed with mixture of apples, lemon juice, brown sugar and apple pie spice. Pie filling is topped with a combination of walnuts, flour, light brown sugar, apple pie spice and butter. Baked until golden brown and dusted with confectioners sugar.
Ingredients -
1 Ready-to-Use Pie Crust

Streusel Topping:
1/2 cup each Flour, Light Brown Sugar and chopped Walnuts
1 teaspoon Apple Pie Spice
3 tablespoons Butter, cut into small pieces

Filling:
6 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored, sliced
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
1/2 cup Light Brown Sugar
1 teaspoon Apple Pie Spice

Garnish:
Confectioners Sugar

 
Preparation:

Place ready to use pie crust in pie plate. Flute or crimp edges.


Streusel Topping:
1. Add flour, sugar, walnuts, and apple pie spice to bowl.

2. Cut in butter with fork or knives until dough resembles coarse pea size pieces.


Filling:
1. Add apple slices to bowl. Stir in lemon juice, and toss to coat.

2. Mix light brown sugar, apple pie spice together in small bowl. Sprinkle over apple slices and toss to coat.

Baking:
1. Preheat oven to 450 F.

2. Layer apple slices in pie shell. Spoon streusel topping over apples. Press the topping mixture over apples to form top crust.

3. Bake 15 minutes. Reduce oven temp to 350 F.

4. Loosely cover pie with foil.

5. Bake 45 min. longer or until topping is golden brown.

Serve Warm:
1. Cool about 1/2 hour.

2. Dust with confectioners sugar.
