Apple Crumble Pie

Apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, cane sugar, and fresh lemon juice highlight this delicious apple pie. Baked in a single pie crust, and topped with a mixture of cane sugar, all-purpose flour, oatmeal, butter and nuts.
Ingredients -
1 Unbaked Pie shell, 9-inch

6 cups peeled Apple Slices
1/2 cup Cane Sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon Salt
1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice (optional)

Toppings:
1/4 cup Cane Sugar
1/3 cup All-Purpose Flour
1/3 cup Oatmeal
2 tablespoons Butter
1/2 cup chopped Walnuts (or pecans)

 
Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 400 F.

2. Add apple slices to large mixing bowl. Combine sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt in small mixing bowl. Sprinkle sugar mixture over apple slices.

3. Spoon apple slices into pie shell.

4. Combine cane sugar, all-purpose flour, oatmeal, butter and walnuts in small mixing bowl.

5. Sprinkle topping over apples.

6. Bake 45 minutes until apples are bubbly, and topping is golden brown.

Cane Sugar
Cane sugar is granulated white sugar, or commercially produced table sugar.

Baking Tips
Two Crust Pies
Brush water around the edge of the bottom crust. Place top crust over filling. Match up edges and crimp top and bottom crusts. Water helps create a good seal.
